This article, published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, explores how patient-powered research networks (PPRNs) can be used to query health plans’ claims data to identify patients for research opportunities. The study looked at privacy-preserving record linkage methodology as well as accuracy of self-reported diagnosis, which can expedite patient selection for research opportunities, shorten study recruitment timelines, and optimize costs.
